The building itself has been partly built from the facades of 19th historic buildings, most of which date from the 17th century.
The large lobby has recently been renovated and now benefits from a black and orange colour scheme with ample luxury seating and intimate lighting. The restaurants cafe is also located in part of the lobby.

The hotel has a Michelin restaurant called "Vermeer" which serves a la carte food in a very formal but relaxed surrounds. There is also a Dutch 'brown cafe' in typical local style, and an elegant cocktail lounge with original fire places. There is also the Hudson which serves food all day and is located in the lobby and where breakfast is served. The hotel bar has recently been renovated and is now very modern with modern seating, lighting and relaxing music and serves cocktails as well as beer, wine etc.
